On 11 December, Finnair will open the new generation Via Spa in connection with the modern Via Lounge at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. The lounge and spa will offer unique wellness and comfort services, particularly for Finnair’s transfer passengers travelling between Europe and Asia.

The Via Lounge will be open to Finnair Plus and oneworld top-tier members and business class customers free of charge and to all other customers for a fee. Access to the Via Spa will be free of charge to Finnair Plus Platinum cardholders, while all other customers are welcome to use the spa for a fee.

“The Via Spa environment is unique in the world of airports and will communicate the fact that Finnair really cares for the wellbeing of its customers. The natural freshness of Finland’s nature is combined in spa experience with the pure organic treatment ingredients. The high quality spa will offer Finnair customers first-class spa and wellness services. The spa will offer a spruce sauna and stone sauna from the Alps, a steam sauna and a traditional Finnish sauna, which will provide a view over a mineral water pool to the aircraft taxiways”, says Markku Remes, Finnair’s Customer Experience Development Manager.

Behind the spa concept is an innovative ideology based on the more than 40 years’ experience and research of the German spa pioneer Paul Haslauer. In terms of its size and environment, the Via Spa is a unique complex offering new-generation, naturopathic treatments. All of the spa’s products are made of pure, organic ingredients. The special services include short treatments designed especially for transit passengers in rooms tailored for the purpose, as well as a cold water paddling pool and a mineral water pool to alleviate travel fatigue and the effects of jetlag.

The Via Spa and Via Lounge are located in the end section of the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport terminal extension between Gates 36 and 37. The stylish Via Lounge has room for around 250 customers and its services include six private shower rooms, a diverse buffet, a Via Bar and various relaxation areas with top-quality Samsung LED TVs. The interior design is by the Finnish company Isku Interior Oy and represents the ideas of the best furniture designers.

Those who wish to work have at their disposal a free WI-FI network, work points with iMAc PCs and Finnish Powerkiss work desks allowing wireless mobile phone recharging. Multi-purpose facilities allow privacy for telephone calls.

Services will be provided in cooperation with Finnair’s long-term partner SSP Finland Oy.

These innovations are linked to the joint development work by Finnair, Finavia and SSP Finland to improve the competitiveness of Helsinki-Vantaa. Since the turn of the millennium, Finnair has purposefully increased its Asian traffic passing through Helsinki-Vantaa. The number of Via Helsinki transit passengers has remained favourable this year, even in a highly challenging competitive and financial environment.

The Via Lounge is open from 06.00 to 24.00 and the Via Spa from 10.00 to 22.00.
